Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
