Our Task Consists of Only Executing' - How Sudan's Vicious Paramilitary Group Conducted a Massacre

Militiamen chuckle as they move on the back of a pick-up truck, hurrying past a series of several corpses and driving facing the descending Sudanese sunset.

"Observe this extensive effort. Observe this instance of mass destruction," a fighter shouts.

He beams as he points the video equipment on his person and his associate militiamen, their paramilitary insignia clearly shown: "They will all perish like this."

The combatants are celebrating a massacre that humanitarian officials believe claimed the lives of in excess of 2,000 individuals in the Sudan's metropolis of the Darfur city last month.

A City Severed from the World

After maintaining the community under blockade for nearly 24 months, from the summer the RSF moved to reinforce its dominance and blockade the leftover residents.

Orbital photography show that forces started to construct a enormous earth barrier - a built-up dirt embankment - encircling the boundaries of the city, blocking roads and blocking humanitarian assistance.

As the siege escalated, seventy-eight people were murdered in an RSF attack on a mosque on 19 September, while the international organization said dozens additional were killed in aerial and artillery attacks on a makeshift community in fall.

Space-based imagery recorded on late October appeared to substantiate that executions were furthermore carried out on the thoroughfares of the city, based on a report issued by the academic research center.

An witness who provided testimony said they had observed "many of our relatives being massacred - they were gathered in one place and all murdered."

RSF Officers Attempt to Conduct Reputation Management

In the days that ensued from the massacre, RSF leader acknowledged that his troops had carried out "atrocities" and stated the occurrences would be examined.

Among those apprehended was after a report documenting his killings. Meticulously choreographed and modified recording published on the RSF's official messaging channel depict the commander being taken into a cell at a prison on the edges of al-Fashir.

Meanwhile, the RSF and associated online profiles began seeking to reshape the account.

Posts depicting its militiamen providing assistance to residents were disseminated by some accounts, while the militia's communications team released multiple recordings allegedly to display the proper management of army captives.

Regardless of the online effort being used by the RSF, their activities in el-Fasher have provoked worldwide outrage.
