Outrage as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation struggling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by three individuals, with one opened fire on him before running away.
The reason of the attack remains unclear and no arrests have been made, police said.
The Fatal Incident
Police revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a building close to the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the site managing the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement confirmed.
Security camera video showed a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what appeared to be a security uniform shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was hit but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.
Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the incident.
Crucial forensic evidence, like bullet casings, were discovered at the crime scene.

Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.
"Evidence suggests they covered significant ground after the attack, and police have been following their trail to establish their location," added an official.

"I am devastated. I cannot express the pain," she said.
